Edward Budney: Photographer
Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery – 2025 Exhibit

Edward Budney (1920-1980) captured midcentury Kingston in thousands of images. Employed by Hercules Powder Co. and later IBM, Budney lived at 125 Cedar Street with his father Edward Sr., mother Matilda, and younger brother Donald. The images in this exhibit were selected from Budney’s personal archive, ten boxes of film negatives purchased at a local yard sale and donated to the Friends of Historic Kingston in 2018. Documenting major postwar developments beside everyday domestic scenes, Budney’s work represents a major contribution to the visual history of our city.
