Edward Budney: Photographer – 2026 Exhibit
The Friends of Historic Kingston is proud to announce our 2026 exhibit, Edward Budney: Photographer. The gallery at 63 Main Street is open Fridays and Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM, through the end of October.
In thousands of images, self-taught photographer Edward Budney (1920-1980) captured midcentury Kingston. Employed by Hercules Powder Company and later IBM, Budney lived at 125 Cedar Street, sharing the home with his father Edward Sr., mother Matilda and younger brother Donald. The images in this exhibit were selected from Budney’s personal archive, ten boxes of film negatives purchased at a local yard sale and donated to the Friends of Historic Kingston in 2018. Documenting major postwar developments beside everyday domestic scenes, Budney’s work reflects this singularly dedicated Midtown photographer’s passion for both his community and chosen medium.
