Sundays at the Cemetery-Guided tours of six Kingston Cemeteries offered by The Friends of Historic Kingston

The Friends of Historic Kingston announces a new summer program – Sundays at the Cemetery – featuring free guided tours of six Kingston Cemeteries.  Learn about notable Kingstonians including George Clinton, John Vanderlyn, General George Sharpe, Thomas Cornell,  George Coykendall, Calvert Vaux, Peter Barmann, Lucas Noone,  members  of the U.S. Civil War Colored Infantry, and many others as you view  distinctive gravesites amid remarkable landscapes within the City of Kingston.

The  program  begins with a tour of Montrepose Cemetery on Sunday June 15 and continues with visits to St. Peter’s Cemetery on June 22,  Wiltwyck Cemetery-June 29, the Old Dutch Graveyard-July 13, St. Mary’s Cemetery-July 20, and Mount Zion Cemetery on August 3.

On  July 27 a slide show on the Architecture and Landscaping of Kingston’s Cemeteries will be presented by Dr. William Rhoads at the Kirkland Hotel.
