"FOOTPRINTS IN STONE" CHILDREN'S TOUR The Friends of Historic Kingston offer a special tour of the Stockade District for children age 7-12. Designed as an outdoor treasure hunt, the tour shows children how they can discover historical information on their own by learning to look at the streetscape and buildings for clues. Each child is given a clipboard with an illustrated list of objects to find along the tour route. These objects serve as touchstones for discussing Colonial life, the events of 1777 when Kingston served as New York State’s first capital, and the value of preserving our architectural heritage. An informational packet is sent in advance to the teacher or adult supervisor to help prepare children for the tour. There is a fee of $2 per child. To arrange a school or youth group tour, call 845-339-0720. WHAT THE TEACHERS ARE SAYING….. “As always, we had an outstanding tour of the Stockade Area.
