Help us protect and preserve one of the oldest and most historically significant communities in New York State. Join Friends of Historic Kingston and join us in our endeavors.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of FHK. They staff our two museums where they meet and greet visitors, provide information about exhibits, and assist with sales in the museum shop. The annual changing exhibits in the FHK Museum Gallery benefit from members with computer, graphic design, photography and writing skills.
You may opt to be a docent in the Fred J. Johnston Museum, or a guide for FHK’s Stockade National Historic District Walking Tour or Rondout National Historic District Walking Tour. Volunteers also lead FHK’s walking tour especially designed for school groups, “Footprints in Stone.“ No prior experience is necessary. We are happy to train.
Our “gardening angels” tend two historic landscapes maintained by the Friends of Historic Kingston: Frog Alley Park and the Sharp Burying Ground. The eighteenth century garden at the Fred J. Johnson House is also immaculately maintained by volunteers.
